Abstract
In addressing the sometimes complex problems surrounding burn wounds and their treatments, everyone wants treatment to be provided by an expert. But who is an expert and what constitutes expertise? This article discusses the issues of expertise in the context of burn care and highlights challenges and risks to the maintenance of expertise in the modern clinical environment.
