Abstract
Guidelines for tooth movement limits are meant to help clinicians in treatment-planning decisions, especially for “severe” or “borderline” adult malocclusions. The purpose of this article was to review well-accepted scope of care beliefs and compare with suggested scope of treatment offered by periodontally accelerated osteogenic orthodontics (PAOO). PAOO is a surgical technique that accelerates tooth movement and expands the scope of conventional orthodontic treatment in the adult 2-3 fold in most spatial dimensions.
