Abstract
Benign esophageal strictures are most commonly caused by a complex process involving inflammation, fibrous formation, and collagen deposition into the mucosa and submucosa of the esophagus. Most benign esophageal strictures can be successfully treated with endoscopic guided dilation involving either balloon dilators or polyvinyl wire-guided dilators. This article will review the role of standard and adjunctive therapies for benign esophageal strictures.
