Abstract
The telephone call to make an appointment for any medical consultation is a key moment in the taking-on of a case: the therapeutic relationship starts with the call. In order to gain better understanding of the demands - often complex in geriatric - and to respond appropriately to them, it is essential to make the most of the initial conversation between the medical secretariat and the caller. In order to do this, we have established a system for gathering information in the form of a “call details” record form, presented in this article. But above and beyond the wealth of information thus gathered, we will also show the benefits of systematic data collection by telephone procedure for the medical practitioner, whether for the therapeutic alliance, for subsequent action, for diagnosis or the search for solutions.
