Abstract
⺠There is a critical balance between immunity and immunopathology in tuberculosis. ⺠Key elements of antibacterial immunity also play a role in regulating immunopathology. ⺠M. tuberculosis manipulates the immune response. ⺠M. tuberculosis drives effective systemic immunity but regulates expression locally to promote the tissue damage required for transmission.
