Abstract
⺠The contribution of mouse studies to understanding the genetics of human autoimmune diseases is reviewed. ⺠Classical inbred strains have limited genetic diversity, which limits the power of QTL studies. ⺠The possibilities for genetically engineering mice are (almost) without limits. ⺠Phenotypic differences between mice and humans are related to species, mouse strain and microbiota.
