Abstract
⺠Gene therapy aims to create HIV-resistant cells to replace the need for cART. ⺠Anti-HIV genes include protein or RNA-based agents and gene-editing enzymes. ⺠Combinations of anti-HIV genes reduce the likelihood of viral resistance. ⺠Current therapies require autologous transplantation of gene-modified cells. ⺠Stem cell-based approaches aim to establish an HIV-resistant immune system.
