Abstract
⺠There is a remarkable increase of hepatic macrophages during acute liver failure. ⺠Recent advances on the phenotypes and functional status of macrophages were reviewed. ⺠Cell-crosstalks among macrophages and lymphocytes participate in acute liver failure. ⺠Macrophage may be a potential therapeutic target for acute liver failure.
