Abstract
⺠Molecular mechanisms involved in the AMD-associated inflammation were investigated. ⺠Oxidative stress increased the expression of NLRP3-specific mRNA in ARPE-19 cells. ⺠Oxidative stress increased the production of IL-1β and IL-18. ⺠Caspase-1 inhibitor decreased the production of IL-1β and IL-18. ⺠First time evidence associating NLRP3 inflammasomes with retinal pigment epithelium.
