Abstract
⺠A single chain human antibody (scFv) was selected by bio-panning of a phage-display library. ⺠The clones were selected for their capacity to recognize toxin Ts1 from the scorpion Tityus serrulatus. ⺠Clone 15e was capable of recognizing and partially protecting mice from the toxic effect of Ts1. ⺠The single chain antibody (scFv) was VH6-VK4, containing 124 amino acids for VH6 and 114 for VK4. ⺠The clone 15e also recognizes toxins from other species of dangerous scorpions of the same genus from the Amazonic region. ⺠It is a leading compound for the development of neutralizing antibodies of human origin against scorpion stings in South American countries.
