Abstract
- No sequence homology in Trichomonas vaginalis genome with CD59 human gene.
- IFI detection of CD59 on T. vaginalis surface of flagellates recovered from mice.
- No CD59 on T. vaginalis from batch cultures, only those co-cultivated with mice RBC.
- T. vaginalis cultures supplemented with RBC were more resistant against human serum.
- Results suggest host-CD59 acquisition as an additional immune evasion strategy.
