Abstract
⺠The history, epidemiology and clinical perspectives of E. moshkovskii are reviewed. ⺠E. moshkovskii is morphologically indistinguishable from E. histolytica/E. dispar. ⺠The diagnosis of this infection can only be achieved through molecular methods. ⺠This infection has aroused the need to reassess the amebiasis epidemiology. ⺠Studies are needed to clarify the pathogenic role of this species.
