Abstract
⺠76 patients with chagasic megaesophagus were operated on by the Serra-Dória procedure. ⺠Advanced megaesophagus (grades III/IV) was found in 65 (86%) patients. ⺠29 (38%) patients showed cardiovascular complications in the perioperative period. ⺠Age > 61 years was the only independent predictor of cardiovascular complications. ⺠The Serra-Doria operation shows a high-frequency of cardiovascular complications.
