Abstract
⺠We review Trichinellaspp infection in humans, livestock and wildlife in sub-Saharan Africa. ⺠The possible life cycles of the major species occurring in sub-Saharan Africa is postulated. ⺠The possible sources of human infection in sub-Saharan Africa. ⺠The reasons for an increase in the risk of human trichinellosis in the regionare hypothesized. ⺠Surveillance of Trichinella infection in wildlife hosts from protected areas is recommended.
