Abstract
► A common porphyrin transporter might be involved in the entrance of amphipathic porphyrins. ► The heme transport blockage in T. cruzi epimastigotes affects its biological cycle since decreases the epimastigotes growth. ► The heme uptake process is affected by the presence of different transporter inhibitors. ► Evidences indicate that heme translocation may be mediated by an ABC transporter.
