Abstract
ⶠSSAO/rVAP-1 mediated oxidation of methylamine kills African trypanosomes in vitro. ⶠSSAO inhibitors block the trypanocidal activity of SSAO/rVAP-1. ⶠFormaldehyde generated in the SSAO/rVAP-1 mediated oxidation of methylamine is responsible for killing trypanosomes.
