Abstract
⺠Quantitative single and dual target HIV-1 RT-PCR assays were developed. ⺠The technical performance of single/dual target assays in light of HIV-1 the epidemic was compared. ⺠Internal sample and external quantification controls were developed for robustness. ⺠The chosen assay proved to have good predictive value for monitoring HIV patients. ⺠This assay can substitute commercial assays when resources are limited.
