Abstract
⺠There are no reports on the presence of TOM1 and TOM3 genes in pepper. ⺠In this study, the CaTOM1 and CaTOM3 genes were isolated from pepper (Capsicum annuum). ⺠Their sequences are highly homologous to Nicotiana NtTOM1 and NtTOM3. ⺠These genes have the same function as NtTOM1 and NtTOM3. ⺠siRNA constructs generated from CaTOM1/CaTOM3 resulted in inhibition of TMV.
