Sensitive Mie scattering immunoagglutination assay of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) from lung tissue samples in a microfluidic chip

► First demonstration of PRRSV detection from lung tissue in optical-microfluidic chip. ► Very sensitive (10−3 TCID50 ml−1), rapid (<5 min), and portable assay. ► Comparisons with Mie scattering simulations and RT-PCR assays are reported. ► The method can be implemented to other pathogens and sample matrices.
