Thermal treatment of the bacteriophage lysate of Klebsiella pneumoniae B5055 as a step for the purification of capsular depolymerase enzyme

► The capsular polysaccharide phage depolymerase is found in association with phage particle. ► Disassembling of phage particles by exposure to dissociation conditions is required. ► Heat treatment of the bacteriophage lysate was used as a purification step. ► The enzyme is thermal stable at 60 °C for 30 min while inactivating infective phage. ► Thermal treatment was evaluated against the mild acid method of Rieger et al. (1975).
