Abstract
⺠The guinea pig cytomegalovirus (CMV) protein gp145 antagonizes the protein kinase R pathway. ⺠gp145 binds dsRNA and its minimal dsRNA-binding domain is conserved with HCMV TRS1. ⺠Unlike mouse CMV m142/m143, gp145 alone is sufficient to block PKR. ⺠All known CMV PKR antagonists are members of the US22 gene family.
