Abstract
⺠Selected CHO cell lines specifically resistant to ebolavirus GP-mediated infection. ⺠Host factors previously implicated in ebolavirus entry do not confer susceptibility. ⺠Resistant cells encode distinct mutations that knock out NPC1 protein expression. ⺠Expression of NPC1 restores infection. ⺠NPC1 mutations affecting cholesterol regulation but not protein expression were not selected.
