Abstract
⺠Micropitting in gear teeth is surface fatigue damage. ⺠Generic roughness profiles were built to identify the main significant parameters. ⺠Mechanical surface loading obtained using transient elastohydrodynamic code. ⺠Fatigue lifetime was estimated using semi-analytical stress history and Crossland criterion. ⺠The main significant parameters are found for steel teeth with and without nitriding
