Abstract
⺠Influence of scratches on journal bearing performance is investigated. ⺠Contribution of each scratch parameter (depth, density, extent) is investigated. ⺠Charts presenting performance degradation in scratched bearings are produced. ⺠Charts showing admissible scratch depth versus extent and density are presented. ⺠Results allow a rough estimate of the severity of scratches in a given application.
