Abstract
⺠Acoustic emission with higher sensitivity can monitor contact fatigue behavior. ⺠Contact fatigue damage process of the coating is mainly composed of five stages. ⺠Fatigue cracks are liable to initiate and grow along with defects within coating. ⺠Spalling failure mechanics is controlled and dominated by maximum shear stress.
