Abstract
⺠Evaluation of an intermittent sliding test mimicking chip/tool contact in milling. ⺠Analyses of material transfer between case hardening steel and PVD coated HSS tools. ⺠Good correlation between material transfer found in sliding and milling tests. ⺠Precipitates from the case hardening steel form an oxidized tribofilm. ⺠Adhered oxidised steel constituents found at low temperature/pressure areas.
