Abstract
► Sliding wear of mild steel specimen with and without WC coating was studied. ► WC coated specimens showed superior wear resistance results. ► Co with good ductility, promoted dense transfer film and resulted good adherence. ► equilibrium rate of film transfer to the disc is due to loss of wear particles. ► WC coating can be as a protection against wear under dry sliding conditions.
