Abstract
► Nimonic 80A was slid against Incoloy 800HT in a 'block-on-cylinder' system. ► High metallic transfer 'severe wear' at low temperature 0.314 m s−1. ► Low transfer 'severe wear' at intermediate temperatures 0.314 m s−1. ► Protective 'glaze' formed at high temperature with early severe wear. ► Greater metallic transfer and suppressed 'glaze' formation at 0.905 m s−1.
