Abstract
⺠Based on statistical and numerical approaches constitutive contact laws (pad-rotor) are derived. ⺠These contact laws are based on measured surface topographies from pads at different states of wear. ⺠A simple structural model for the investigation of brake squeal is presented. ⺠A strong influence of the surface roughness on the occurrence of self-excited vibrations is found.
