Abstract
Passive magnetic bearings and their systems are studied with reference to their instability, which reduces their utilisation in technical applications, where the absence of friction and wear, that magnetism allows, would be very important. This study is based on the calculus of the forces acting on magnetic bearings and on their systems, and on the identification of areas of low instability.
