Abstract
► Single asperity scratch tests with different tip sizes were used to study the influence of size. ► Wear rate decreases with increasing size of the abrasive body. ► Testing at low loads revealed a new regime for the degree of wear. ► At low loads the degree of wear increases due to plastic deformation of the subsurface.
