Abstract
► The Al2024 alloy-carbon nanotubes composites were produced by mechanical alloying. ► The alloy and its composites were tested at wear by a pin-on-disk system. ► It was examined the resistance of the composites under several wear conditions. ► The greater the CNTs concentration in composites, the greater the resistance to wear. ► A hard surface due to Al4C3 and a lubricant layer formed by CNTs were considered.
