Abstract
► Microcapsules were formed by in situ polymerization in an oil-in-water emulsion. ► The tribological performance of silicone composite coatings prepared on aluminum (Al) alloy substrates was investigated. ► The increased microcapsule concentration apparently reduced the friction coefficient of the coatings. ► However, the wear resistance of the coatings decreased with increased microcapsule content.
