Abstract
⺠Finite element analysis is used to relate the contact forces between a rough road and a tread block to the contact geometry and loads. ⺠Effect of tread block edge effects included. ⺠The work is validated with novel experiments in which a tread block is placed in contact with a stone. ⺠Model applied to contact between a tyre and a road.
