Abstract
⺠In vivo friction of residual limb skin against prosthetic socks is investigated. ⺠Wool and nylon socks have HYPERLINK “javascript:;” coarse weave surfaces and hard protruding textile fibers. ⺠Wool and nylon socks cause clear microscopic friction trauma to the skin. ⺠Cotton and silk socks have soft and smooth surface textile features. ⺠Less friction irritations are observed when skin slid against cotton and silk socks.
