Abstract
⺠Texture generated by tension as crosslinking pretreatment of UHMWPE used in implants. ⺠Tension induces a microfibrillar morphology with lamellae fragments forming chevrons. ⺠Wear sliding behavior of textured UHMWPE is investigated under fretting conditions. ⺠Textured UHMWPE has lower contact area and sliding energy than untreated UHMWPE. ⺠Texturing treatment increases strength and generates anti-wear properties.
