Abstract
► The evolution of surface and subsurface wear of UNS S31603 during erosion-corrosion is studied. ► Experiments revealed that increasing layers of lips are formed with increasing test duration. ► The depth of the nanocrystalline region formed subsurface increases with direct particle impact. ► Graph of mass loss rate versus time gives good correlation with surface and subsurface features. ► Physical models are developed based on these observations.
