Abstract
▶ Occurrence of the flaking damage and its relationship with the wear of rail under oil lubrication operation was investigated. ▶ The occurrence rate of the flaking damage was high at gauge corner side of high rail in moderate curves. ▶ The balance between the wear and the accumulation of micro-strain or fatigue was a key to occur the flaking damage.
