Abstract
▶ The model of prediction of rolling bodies residual fatigue lifetime is formulated. ▶ The step-by-step calculation of crack propagation paths are the basis of the model. ▶ The possibility of crack growth both by shear mechanism and opening is provided. ▶ The edge crack growth paths under boundary lubrication conditions are constructed. ▶ The lifetime of some rail steels is evaluated by pitting development.
