Abstract
▶ A new wheel-rail contact model for multibody railway applications is presented. ▶ The model is directly based on the Navier's elasticity equation. ▶ The model does not consider simplifying hypotheses like the non-conformal contact. ▶ The model can be implemented directly online within the multibody vehicle model. ▶ Numerical simulations have been performed to validate the new contact model.
