Abstract
► A method is proposed to complement the ASTM G 171 two-body scratch test standard. ► Displaced volume metrics are defined to account for the scratched surface profile. ► Performance is demonstrated with proof of concept data. ► This method takes advantage of surface resolution capability using interferometery. ► Application-specific tips were developed to simulate highly abrasive lunar regolith.
