Abstract
â¶ In this investigation the abrasive wear behaviour of white cast iron with different contents of chromium and oriented M7C3 carbide was studied in transverse and longitudinal directions, under different loads, using alumina as abrasive. The abrasion resistance is correlated with the carbides microhardness and fracture toughness. The wear surface and abrasive paper were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy in order to identify changes in the wear micromechanisms and carbide cracking orientation.
