Abstract
ⶠCeramic components alone emit audible squeaking. ⶠProposed model relates vibration frequency to device geometry and coefficient of friction. ⶠDerived relationship accurately models frequency of noise from squeaking COC hips. ⶠLaboratory tests using accelerometers confirm predicted head motion. ⶠModel predicts vibration due to roll/slide motion; independent of load.
