Abstract
The problem of quasi-static contact between a half-plane and a wheel having a small flat portion on its rim is considered, for the case where the ‘flat’ is parallel with the half-plane surface. The contact pressure distribution and corresponding internal state of stress are found and particular attention is given to characterising the nature of the singularity arising.
