Abstract
Acute acquired brain injury is a common childhood event. Increasingly the techniques and science behind promoting optimal recovery from such an event are being researched and developed. This short overview aims to develop the core concepts underlying rehabilitation medicine, discusses some of the neurobiological theories and events that are occurring, and develops a more detailed discussion of the various strategies that can be deployed to maximise outcomes.
