Abstract
⺠A simplified but accurate enough mathematical model of MEE is presented. ⺠The flow-patterns for the distillate and the vapors were optimization variables. ⺠A novel structure was found and compared with the conventional one. ⺠The novel structure has a better performance than the conventional structure. ⺠Uniform and non-uniform heat transfer area distributions were also analyzed.
