Abstract
► An experimental solar pond (50 m2) was constructed to capture and store solar energy. ► The diffusor design used to establish the salinity gradient allowed to increase the flow-rate. ► The gradient was maintained by feeding salt, surface washing and acidification method. ► The maximum temperature of 54 °C was reached at summer season. ► The salinity gradient observed great stability after one year of continuous maintenance.
