Abstract
⺠Hydrophobic heat exchangers were investigated in a two-chamber apparatus. ⺠A 0.635-μm-thick hydrophobic coating and shearing steam enhanced condensation. ⺠Forced convection and boiling stones enhanced the overall heat transfer coefficient. ⺠The maximum overall heat transfer coefficient measured was U = 184 kW/(m2·°C) ⺠Results will benefit vapor-compression desalination
