Abstract
⺠Calcite and brucite precipitation occurs on the cathode through the generation of OHâ ions. ⺠For high current densities the electrochemical precipitation rate of calcite reaches a limit. ⺠The precipitation rate of calcite does not vary with the Ca2+ concentration. ⺠The electrochemical precipitation rate of brucite correlates with current density. ⺠With increasing Mg 2+ concentration the precipitation rate of brucite decreases.
