Abstract

Textile effluent was treated using Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) and pre and post treatments were done using sonochemical reactor. Kinetic modeling was performed to analyze the effect of individual parameters. These kinetic models were used for the quadratic approximation of the overall (cascaded) model for COD profile of wastewater during various treatment processes. The models are the functions of initial COD and various time periods of treatment processes. Using the quadratic model, contours were plotted under different combination of parameters used in this study.

Research highlights► Reduction of process time was achieved by coupling a Chemical and Bio Degradation. ► Post-treatment combined with Biodegradation was effective in handling shock loads. ► Process time optimization for the combination of SBR and Sonochemical reactor. ► A generalized algorithm for the treatment of textile wastewater has been proposed.
